Wild Pig Hunting Clinic At Tejon Ranch
The annual Wild Pig Hunting Clinic for 2009 at the Tejon Ranch will be held on August1, 2009. This clinic is associated with the Department of Fish and Game's Advanced Hunter Education program and “is jointly sponsored by the Pacific Coast Hunter Education Association and Tejon Ranch. Experienced instructors will address pig biology, hunting techniques and requirements, methods for locating wild pigs, locations to hunt, actual field dressing and care of game. The clinic is appropriate for all skill levels, from beginner to advanced.”
It will start at 09:00 and end at or around 17:00. It costs $ 40.00 per adult. Junior hunters age 16 or younger are free but need to be accompanied by an adult. A wild pig BBQ lunch can be purchased for about $ 10.00. They will also raffle off numerous prices, including the pig used for the demonstrations.
Details are on the DFG website at www.dfg.ca.gov/huntered/advanced, by calling (916) 358-4356 or by e-mail from dlehman@dfg.ca.gov.

Now do not misunderstand what I am about to say here PJJ.
I am 100% all for the State gaining revenue, Lord knows we need it!
But legally, we citizens could not sell tickets to a wild boar BBQ because in a court of law that could be construed as (Selling, Bartering) of a wild game animal, or any parts thereof.
Let's see: The organizers charge for the clinic. They raffle off donated merchandise to those who posses a raffle ticket. And they provide lunch to keep attendants of the clinic well fortified for the afternoon session. Lunch serves as demonstration of how tasty wild pigs really are when field dressed quickly and prepared right. A small donation to help the all volunteer cooks with groceries beyond the boar meat is in my opinion justified.
The boar clinics are produced and staffed mainly by volunteer hunter education teachers in cooperation with the Tejon Ranch and with cameo appearances of DFG personnel.
Oh, I forgot. We know from the dystopian novel "Nineteen Eighty-Four" that we are all equal.
But some of us are more equal than others.
They sell lunch tickets, Native.
Ah! Yes,
How could I ever forget Mr. Orwell's prophesies (Er, Ahem!) work of fiction.
I reckon that we citizens just have to get a bit more creative now don't we! ;-)
I attended the clinic and learned a lot about hunting wild pigs. The field dress demo was very informative and the BBQ was DELICIOUS!
Yes, I agree. I was tempted to attend the clinic again - just to get some of the great wild pig BBQ.
Furthermore, unless you take a lot of wild pigs and field dress them yourself, it is always good to observe someone demonstrate field dressing who has a lot of practice.
They make it look effortless, don't they?
